Hello All,

I hope you are staying safe and well during these trying times.

We held a board meeting last night and we were faced with the difficult task of making a decision about the future of Gaslight Community Theatre Productions.

After a lengthy discussion, it was decided that we will need to postpone the October 2020 Tour until October 2021. We understand that this decision will be disappointing news for our venue owners, cast and team members, and our faithful audiences.

We are disappointed too.

We are also worried about the (seventeen-month) time-lapse. We have several ongoing expenses and we need to ensure that we have funds to put toward the production costs of the 2021 Tour.

We are trying to develop some creative Plan B’s (COVID approved) and consider some new methods to increase our income. Your feedback and ideas are most welcome.

Page to Stage Update

Dan Needles
We have four completed scenes that have been chosen to be performed at our (postponed) Four Scenes and A Cup of Tea. We will need to continue to postpone this performance until it is safe for this to take place.

Caroline Smith
Caroline has been working with eight writers to write the plays for the Gaslight Tour. The plays this year are based on the theme UNSOLVED MYSTERIES. Several of the plays have been written and are now in the process of being edited and polished. We will be choosing the four winning plays on July 25th – and these plays will be performed in the 2021 Tour.

Board News

We welcome Susan Brindisi to our board. Many of you will remember Susan as the gossipy Lulu Burdette in the play The Legacy. Susan owns a local accounting/bookkeeping business in Collingwood. She will serve as the Treasurer on our board.

2020 Gaslight Board of Directors:
Laurie May (Executive Producer/President/Chair)
Monica Wilson (Secretary)
Susan Brindisi (Treasurer)
Janice Schennach (Board Member)
Shirley Joost (Board Member)
Anke Lex (Board Member)
Janet Fairbridge (Board Member)
Dawn Hanley (Board Member)

STILL WANTED:
**** Several people who would be willing to take on the role of maintaining our current Sponsor list and recruiting new Sponsors. Ideally, this would be someone who has a good knowledge of (and passion for) Gaslight Community Theatre. We will meet with you to explain the Fundraising protocol and guide you through this process.

**** Someone who is willing to offer (or knows of someone) that could offer us some storage space for our set-pieces/props. Preferred location would be in the Collingwood area, but we could look at something a little further afield if the location was suitable. The space should be small to medium-sized, lighted, clean, dry, and easily accessible to vehicles for loading/unloading. Because we are a not-for-profit, the loan of space would be greatly appreciated but we could consider a small rental cost depending on the amount.

**** Someone who is social-media savvy. Our FACEBOOK and INSTAGRAM pages need some love.
If you (or someone you know) is interested in any of the above, please send me an email.
Spread the word about Gaslight. We always welcome new people and new talent to join our fantastic and hard-working crew.

The purpose of this newsletter is to keep us all informed about Gaslight. If you would rather not receive this newsletter, let me know, and I’ll remove your name from the list.

Thanks again for your continued understanding and support.
