Hello Gaslight Gang:
I was holding off on making an official COVID-19 statement in the hope that things would turn around…however, I have decided that I need to announce:
Due to the current government-mandated shut-down, Gaslight Community Theatre Productions has made the regrettable (but responsible) decision to postpone all auditions/rehearsals and performances. We were fortunate to be able to complete our Page to Stage scene writing sessions with Dan Needles. Four scenes were chosen to be performed at an event called Four Scenes and a Cup of Tea on April 5th. We were unable to move forward with this presentation as the Simcoe Street Theatre (and all Town of Collingwood facilities) were closed. We hope to resume preparations for Four Scenes and a Cup of Tea as soon as we are allowed to do so.
Currently, we have nine people, hard at work, writing plays for the Gaslight Tour, under the tutelage of Caroline Smith. Four plays will be chosen for the tour, which is scheduled to take place Oct. 19th to the 25th.
We are hopeful that we will get the official “go ahead” to move forward with the 2020 tour, however, we are also aware that we may need to make the disappointing decision to suspend the 2020 tour until the Fall of 2021. Regardless – we are determined that the “show will go on”!
We appreciate the continued support of our loyal Gaslight volunteers, sponsors, and audience members. We thank you for your understanding during this difficult time.
Some News to Share:
Website:
John and Judy of Collingwood Web Design are hard at work revitalizing our outdated website. We have been providing informative content and they have been creating their magic. We look forward to revealing our exciting new website soon.
Welcome, Amy Phelan:
Many of you will recall Amy, performing as a Guide, in the 2019 Gaslight Tour. She has volunteered to share her videography skills with Gaslight Community Theatre Productions. We had been looking for someone to assist us to make some short films/slideshows etc. We are hoping to incorporate more video into our social media outreach. We would also like to create some video footage to document the plays for each year. Another idea that has been suggested is a “THE MAKING OF THE GASLIGHT TOUR” documentary-type video. This video could explain what we do and who we are and would be extremely helpful when we are promoting and marketing to prospective sponsors/supporters/audience members etc. Ideally, we could involve some local youth in helping with the production of these videos. Thank you so much, Amy and welcome to the Production Team. We are looking forward to working with you.
STILL WANTED:
**** Someone that is willing to take on the role of maintaining our current Sponsor list and recruiting new Sponsors. Ideally, this would be someone who has a good knowledge of (and passion for) Gaslight Community Theatre. We will meet with you to explain the Fundraising protocol and guide you through this process.
**** Someone who is willing to offer (or knows of someone) that could offer us some storage space for our set-pieces/props. Preferred location would be in the Collingwood area, but we could look at something a little further afield if the location was suitable. Space should be small to medium-sized, lighted, clean, dry and easily accessible to vehicles for loading/unloading. Because we are a not-for-profit, the loan of space would be greatly appreciated but we could consider a small rental cost depending on the amount.
If you (or someone you know) is interested in any of the above, please send me an email. I’m excited to hear from you. Spread the word about Gaslight. We always welcome new people and new talent to join our fantastic and hard-working crew. Thanks to the folks that have reached out to me with offers of help/talent/and resources.
If you would rather not receive these emails, just let me know and I’ll remove your name from the list.
Stay well and stay safe, everyone! Hopefully, it will not be long until we are back on the stage!
